A Spiritual Mind Treatment is affirmative prayer.
What is affirmative prayer? It is a prayer that declares a spiritual Truth.

A Spiritual Mind Treatment, or affirmative prayer, is "a recognition of Spirit's Omniscience, Omnipotence, and Omnipresence, and a realization of humanity's unity with Spirit..." (Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind)

A treatment after this manner should prove the law of abundance in the life of those who use such statements, and believe in them:

     "I am surrounded by pure Spirit, by God, the Living Spirit.  My thought is God thought, and it is the law  unto that thing where unto it is spoken.  Everything that I do shall be a success.  I am led, guided and inspired by the Living Spirit of Love and of right action.  I am compelled to move in the right direction and to always know what to do, where, and how to do it.

    "I am surrounded by right action.  I am filled with the consciousness of right action.  Right action is success in all that I undertake to do.  I am successful in all my undertakings, and I am compensated for all my efforts.  I am surrounded by Substance, which is always taking the form of supply and always manifesting Itself to me in the form of whatever my need may be at the time.

   "I always have an abundance of money and an abundance of whatever it takes to make life happy and opulent.  There is a continuous movement toward me of supply, of money, of all that I need to express the fullest life, happiness and action.

   "I have an inner understanding of my place in the Universe.  I know that it is unique.  The Divine has not incarnated in anyone else in just the same individual way that It has in me.  I am unique and forever individualized.  Therefore, I do not need to imitate anyone or to long for the good that belongs to another.  All good is now mine and is now manifest in my experience.  I do not compete with anyone, for I am and remain forever myself.  This self is united with all selves, but is always an individual and a unique self.

   "There is that in me which all people recognize as worth while and desirable, and everyone whom I meet loves this self of mine and recognizes its worth.  I draw all toward me and those whom I can benefit and those who can benefit me are irresistibly drawn toward me.  I do not strain, will or coerce.  I know.  The Truth makes me free from the fear of poverty or bondage, and emancipates me from the thought of limitation.  I see that money, like everything else that is desirable, must be a spiritual idea, and I know that I have this idea right in my mind at this moment, I shall always have this idea of abundance.  It is mine and I take it.

   "The opportunity for self-expression and compensation is always open to me and I am at all times compelled to know, accept and operate upon this opportunity.  I have abundance because I am abundance.  "All that the Father hath is mine."

And So It Is.

May’s house in Bristol England was about as old as she was – 88 years. Though the word “old” did not describe May well – she would be more readily referred to as 88 years young.  May was a thin and sprightly character with a lively spirit and tremendous appetite. Meals at May’s place consisted of breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and then supper ! And I will always remember the gooseberry pie she made with gooseberries picked from her back yard garden.
 
The house in Bristol had four levels – a basement and three floors with kitchen, dining, living areas and bedrooms.  All of this living area was serviced by one bathroom and in that bathroom was perhaps the oldest toilet I had ever seen !
I was staying at May’s place by the good grace of my dear long-time friend Dorothy Elliot.. Before moving to the South Pacific  and settling on Norfolk Island, Dorothy had lived for many years in and around Bristol. She had in fact been born there.
 
While staying in Bristol I was making travel plans for the next several months and these plans often grew from a whim as I was in a secure place in life whereby I did not have to be anywhere at any time and had sufficient financial security to take a year off.
 
One day I decided to write to the French consulate in London (this was in the days before computers) and not knowing how to get their address decided to go down to the local Post office to see if they had a London telephone book on hand.  The local village was about half a mile away. I walked the distance and entered the Post Office to encounter a long line of people waiting – about nine in total.  I found this slightly frustrating realizing I would have to wait my turn to ask a simple question “do you have a London telephone book” but there was no way around it.  I joined the queue.
 
I was waiting there for about five minutes when I noticed that the lady who was in front of the main who was in front of me was holding an envelope over her left shoulder in a rather strange way.  My attention went to the envelope and there written on the envelope was the name and address of the French Consulate in London.  I took out pen and paper, copied down the information and left the Post office.  Mission accomplished.
 
Guardian angels always show up when we believe and we ask for what we need.

It was a warm August afternoon when my flight touched down in Rome, Italy where, unlike most places I have traveled to in the world, they didn’t stamp my passport and Customs ushered me through without so much as a second glance. A fast moving taxicab delivered me to the steps of 10 Piazza Albania where Raymond Lloyd had offered me his apartment for six weeks while he was on a business trip in the US. This was my first time in Italy. I arrived from Frankfurt Germany where I had spent 7 days with Yens and his mother in Offenbach.
 
Safely deposited at the steps of my destination I took the elevator to the 7th floor and was greeted by Raymond Lloyd. After exchanging pleasantries and getting to know each other a little Lloyd announced he had work to do and requested that I disappear for 3 or 4 hours.  He also announced that the following evening, Saturday September 1st we would be traveling to Venice for the Regata Storica an annual trial of strength and skill for the city's gondoliers and other expert rowers.
 
So there I was, first time in Rome, late Friday afternoon, No lira in my pocket and getting ready to embark on a trip to Venice the following evening.
Realizing my dilemma I hurried into the streets of Rome to find a Bank where I could convert a fistful of deutschmarks to lira.  A few yards up the road I found a bank and thought my problems were solved. Not quite,  their exchange was closed and they directed me to their main branch in Barbarini that was open until 6p.m.
 
With little time to spare I scurried to the underground to encounter a ticket seller who spoke no English. A kind Italian lady came to my rescue, helped purchase my ticket and gave me directions to my final destination. A trip that involved changing trains to get there. .
 
Feeling very unsure and nervous I boarded the first train.  As I stood in the crowded carriage clinging to a leather strap for support, I looked around at my fellow passengers and noticed a lady wearing a red cardigan with a little boy.  I don’t know why they caught my eye, perhaps it was the red cardigan and it was only for a moment  - I was more focused on making sure I did not miss my station
 
My stop came up and I stepped onto the platform with one goal in mind – to get to the next platform to catch the second train that would take me to Barbarini.
We arrived at that platform together, me, the lady in the red cardigan and the little boy. We all got on the second train and in a few short moments found ourselves at  Barbarini where, to my amazement, my companions also alighted from the train.
 
Coming out of the underground into central Rome I went directly the Bank to complete my transaction, wandered around for a short while and then walked in the direction of the underground station. For a moment I was completely lost -  the underground stations in Rome are not like those in Paris with their distinctive archways. There I was, standing on a street in Rome: all alone and unable to find the metro; when, out of nowhere, walking in the opposite direction toward me came the lady wearing the red cardigan holding the hand of the little boy.
 
Guardian angels come in many shapes and forms. They never look the way you expect them to look, they aren’t dressed in white, there are no visible wings. They just have a way of showing up when you most need them and always to those who truly believe.
